a tiny rat A COLLECTION OF PINS/BUTTONS... a tiny rat

this is (some of) my pin collection...

click on the pins to open up a text blurb about each one. mostly just personal anecdotes.
(only the left side of the jacket has working blurbs as of dec/25 - check back for updates...)

current pin count: 19/???

TART!

an illustrated pin of a smiling cartoon lemon and bubble text of the word "tart" on a pale pink background. i stole this from the gift shop of the art gallery of ontario (sorry?)

CHERRY <3

cartoonishly illustrated red cherries on a solid blue background. stolen from the AGO gift shop (years ago when i was a youth, pls don't snitch on me)

POLICE PROTECT PEOPLE...

blue text reads "police protect people" on a white background. this pin is fastened upside down to help obscure the text as it means nothing to me (yet i insist on wearing it...)

EGAL

a red pin with the word EGAL in white, encircled with a white line. i got this in germany. my partner (at the time) who i was visitng there explained the meaning of "egal" and "egalitarianism" to me in english. i feel as if it has much more impact in german than i could ever attempt to re-explain a decade down the line.

SNAKE

an illustrated blue-green snake's head with it's red tongue flicking out on a yellow-ish background. a kind textile artist gave me this - it is made from scrap fabric!

grey...

a solid dark grey pin. on closer inspection, this one is a small piece of grey scrap fabric pressed into a button, given to me by a very lovely textile artist

AVIS - WE TRY HARDER!

red text reads "We try harder" on a white background. i found this pin in at a bookshop's section of vintage postcards and pins. i liked the simplicity, but didn't know the historical context until a man i was chatting with complimented it specifically. he worked for a car dealership in the 80s while this promotional campaign was running...nostalgia?
